Abstract

K. H. Ahmad Dahlan's thinking in building Islamic civilization in the modern era, through the approach of renewal and purification of Islamic teachings. As a reformer and founder of Muhammadiyah, Ahmad Dahlan emphasized the importance of returning to the Qur'an and As-Sunnah, and eliminating religious practices that are not in line with authentic Islamic teachings. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical literature study approach. The results of the analysis show that Ahmad Dahlan's thought made a significant contribution in creating an Islamic society that was rational, progressive, and responsive to the challenges of the times. His ideas on education, da'wah, and social society became an important basis in the formation of modern Islamic civilization in Indonesia. Thus, Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts remain relevant as a model in formulating strategies for the development of the ummah for the present and the future.
