Kontribusi Pendidikan Islam terhadap Pembinaan Kerukunan Umat Beragama

Religious harmony is a vital pillar in maintaining social stability and cohesion within Indonesia’s diverse society. In the perspective of Islamic education, harmony does not imply the elimination of differences, but rather the cultivation of mutual respect and appreciation for diversity as an essential element of social order. This article examines the values of Islamic education that serve as the foundation for interreligious harmony, namely at-Ta’aruf (mutual acquaintance), at-Tawassuth (moderation), at-Tasamuh (tolerance), at-Ta’awun (mutual assistance), and at-Tawazun (balance). These values are rooted in the teachings of the Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the historical practices of Islamic civilization that fostered peaceful multicultural societies. The study employs a literature review of Islamic scholarship, Qur’anic exegesis, and historical analysis of harmony practices during the Prophet’s era and the caliphates. The findings indicate that the implementation of these values strengthens inclusivity, prevents extremism, fosters social empathy, and promotes harmonious coexistence among people of different religions, cultures, and ethnicities. Therefore, the internalization of Islamic educational values serves as an effective strategy for building sustainable harmony in pluralistic societies.
