PERAN GURU DALAM MENUMBUHKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR MELALUI METODE MEMBACA GLOBAL SISWA KELAS RENDAH MATA PELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA DI SDIT UMMU FATHIMAH KOTA BENGKULU

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in fostering reading motivation through the global reading method in lower grade students. The method used is descriptive qualitative. This study was conducted at SDIT Ummu Fathimah, Bengkulu City. The data sources used were primary data from the principal, lower grade teachers and students, and secondary data from previous theories and research. Data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation, were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results show that there are five stages in implementing the global reading method at SDIT Ummu Fathimah, Bengkulu City, including Sentence Presentation, Sentence Recognition, Sentence Analysis, Word Analysis and Syllable Analysis. This method emphasizes understanding the meaning of the whole sentence before breaking it down into smaller parts. The goal is for students to be able to read more fluently and understand the meaning of the text better. So teachers can use a variety of word cards to describe short sentences in the form of titles and stick them on the board, adjusting them to the pictures in the sentence. As a variation, SDIT Ummu Fathimah teachers use pictures to describe sentences and stick them on the board or other more interesting places. Based on students' abilities and motivation after using the global reading method, there is an increase in motivation, especially in learning Indonesian.
