Abstract

In the Islamic perspective, differences are not the cause of conflict and the measure of one's greatness, but are considered an opportunity to understand and appreciate each other. Multicultural education is an important foundation in maintaining social unity and integration in a heterogeneous society, by educating the public about the importance of equality, justice, diversity, unity, race, ethnicity, language, tradition, and respect for religious beliefs, so that a harmonious and peaceful life is expected to be realized. This Multicultural Education is in accordance with the values of Islamic religious teachings, which are contained in the Qur'an which emphasizes the importance of respecting diversity. This has also been implemented by the Prophet Muhammad (saw), and the companions of the Prophet, as stated in the charter of Medina. The Islamic perspective on multicultural education and the Islamic response to the diversity that exists in society, especially in educational institutions, is an effort to guarantee that every ethnic group has equal rights. The purpose of this research is to explain the Islamic view of multicultural education. This research uses a qualitative approach to literature study, where various references sourced from books, journals, and previous research relevant to the research topic are analyzed in depth. This education is an education that focuses on equality in cultural differences. Multicultural education is an approach that emphasizes understanding and appreciation of the diversity of different cultures.
