Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in facing the challenges of the era of technological disruption and artificial intelligence (AI) in the school environment. The development of digital technology and AI has brought significant changes in the world of education, including in the teaching of religious values, which now demands new innovations and adaptations. PAI teachers play an important role in maintaining the balance between technological advancements and the formation of students' spiritual character. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman (2014) model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was strengthened through triangulation of sources and methods. The results of the study indicate that PAI teachers in secondary schools in Bengkulu City have implemented three main strategies in facing the era of technological disruption and AI, namely: (1) digital transformation in PAI learning, (2) strengthening spiritual values and digital ethics, and (3) improving teacher professional competence. Digital transformation is carried out through the use of various interactive learning platforms such as Google Classroom, Kahoot, and Canva Edu to create more engaging learning. Strengthening spiritual values and digital ethics is realized by instilling noble morals and Islamic digital literacy so that students can use technology responsibly. Meanwhile, professional competency improvement is carried out through digital literacy training and AI-based educational technology workshops. This research confirms that the success of Islamic Religious Education teachers in the digital era is measured not only by their technological capabilities, but also by the extent to which they are able to integrate Islamic values with technological innovation. Thus, technology and AI are not a threat to religious education, but rather an opportunity to strengthen the relevance and role of Islamic spirituality in modern life.
