Abstract

The physical environment in early childhood education (PAUD) has a very vital role in supporting optimal child development, both physically, emotionally, and cognitively. This study aims to explore the influence of interior and exterior design in PAUD AL-IKHLAS, Tanjung Heran Village, Taba Penanjung District, Central Bengkulu Regency, on children's comfort and learning process. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers, principals, and parents of students, as well as visual documentation. The results of the study indicate that the interior design of the classroom using soft colors, maximum natural lighting, and a flexible layout creates an atmosphere that supports children's focus on learning. In addition, the exterior design, especially a safe and fun play area, also contributes to children's motor development. Positive perceptions from parents towards the design of the PAUD environment indicate that physical comfort and a supportive atmosphere also motivate children to learn. This study provides recommendations for PAUD institutions, especially in rural areas, to pay more attention to aspects of space design that are in accordance with the needs of children's growth and development, so that they can improve the quality of learning in PAUD.
