Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of scheduled Dhuha prayer practices on improving students’ self-confidence at MTs Tarbiyatus Shibyan. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design using the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model implemented in two cycles. The participants consisted of 30 eighth-grade students selected purposively due to their low initial self-confidence levels. Data were collected through a self-confidence questionnaire, behavioral observations, and documentation of Dhuha prayer activities. The findings reveal that regular Dhuha prayer significantly enhances students’ ability to express themselves, interact with peers, and assume leadership roles. The average self-confidence score increased from 56.4% in the pre-intervention stage to 67.8% in cycle I and reached 81.2% in cycle II. Moreover, positive behavioral changes were observed, such as willingness to serve as prayer leaders, callers to prayer, and readers of supplication, as well as increased participation in classroom discussions. These results indicate that scheduled Dhuha prayer serves as an effective religious habituation model to strengthen students’ self-confidence in Islamic schools. The study suggests integrating spiritual practices into school culture to support students’ psychological development and character formation.
