Abstract

The development of the digital era in the context of Education 5.0 has brought significant changes to the education system, including in the formation of religious character of students in Islamic educational institutions. This study aims to analyze the process of religious character formation of students in the digital era through learning Akidah Akhlak at MI Daarul Barris Salaam North Bengkulu, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence it. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design involving 13 participants, consisting of one madrasah principal, two Akidah Akhlak teachers, and ten students in grades IV–VI. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the formation of religious character in madrasahs takes place through three main stages, namely planning learning based on religious values with digital media, implementing interactive learning based on role models, and spiritual habits through routine religious activities. Supporting factors include the visionary leadership of the madrasah principal, teacher commitment, a religious environment, and parental support, while the main obstacles include limited technological resources, variations in teachers' digital literacy, and the negative influence of social media. This study concludes that integrating digital media with a role model and religious habituation approach is an effective strategy for strengthening students' religious character in the digital era, and provides a theoretical contribution to the development of an Islamic character education model that is adaptive to technological transformation
