Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ learning outcomes through the implementation of the Active Learning model with the Card Sort type on the topic of energy transformation around us. This classroom action research was conducted in Grade IV of SD Negeri 111 Pidoli Dolok, involving 22 students (11 boys and 11 girls) over two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected using observation sheets and learning outcome tests. The results showed an improvement in teacher activity from 85% (good) in the first cycle to 97% (very good) in the second cycle. Student activity also increased from 62% (low) to 95% (very good), with an average improvement of 33%. Students’ learning outcomes improved from 66.81% in the first cycle to 82.27% in the second cycle. Therefore, the implementation of the Active Learning model with the Card Sort type is effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes on the topic of energy transformation.
