Abstract

This study aims to formulate the redevelopment of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum, which is currently often trapped in cognitive-theoretical elements and neglects value internalization. By applying qualitative descriptive methods and a literature study approach, this research examines various shortcomings in the implementation of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum from both internal and external perspectives. The research results indicate that the failure of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in character building among students is caused by a lack of synergy between theological, philosophical, psychological, sociological, and technological aspects. Abstract metaphysical challenges often fail to align with students' psychological readiness and the rapid advancement of information technology. The research findings recommend the need for a curriculum overhaul that not only emphasizes a list of core materials but also focuses on learning experiences that address ethical behaviors and habits. Curriculum development needs to combine theological values with the sociological conditions of contemporary society in order to build a comprehensive educational ecosystem. With the strengthening of this philosophical foundation, it is hoped that the PAI curriculum will transform from merely transferring knowledge into a tool for shaping Muslim character that can adapt to the changes of the times without losing its spiritual identity.
