Problem Based Learning dalam Penggunaan Modul Pendidikan Agama Islam untuk Meningkatkan Higher Order Thinking Skills Mahasiswa

Transformasi pendidikan pada abad ke-21 dan era Society 5.0 menuntut perguruan tinggi untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang tidak hanya menguasai pengetahuan, tetapi juga memiliki kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher Order Thinking Skills/HOTS), terutama dalam aspek berpikir kritis, analitis, dan pemecahan masalah. Namun, proses pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di perguruan tinggi masih didominasi oleh pendekatan yang berpusat pada dosen dan penggunaan bahan ajar yang bersifat informatif, sehingga pengembangan HOTS mahasiswa belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan modul Pendidikan Agama Islam berbasis Problem Based Learning terhadap peningkatan HOTS mahasiswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experiment melalui Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 60 mahasiswa yang berasal dari tiga kelas, yaitu kelas 1G, 1B, dan 1E. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemberian pre-test dan post-test, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan One-Way ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa setelah penerapan modul PAI berbasis PBL. Sebelum perlakuan, mayoritas mahasiswa berada pada kategori cukup (46,7%) dan kurang (25%). Setelah perlakuan, terjadi peningkatan pada kategori baik (45%) dan sangat baik (21,7%), serta penurunan pada kategori kurang menjadi 5%. Hasil uji One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan nilai F sebesar 3,481 dengan signifikansi 0,037 (p < 0,05), yang mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan modul PAI berbasis PBL berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap peningkatan HOTS mahasiswa. Dengan demikian, modul PAI berbasis PBL dapat menjadi alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang efektif untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan HOTS mahasiswa melalui proses pembelajaran yang lebih aktif, kontekstual, dan reflektif.
