UMAR BIN KHATTAB: ISLAM SEBAGAI KEKUATAN POLITIK

Abstract

The development of Islam during the era of the Caliphs (Khalifah Rashidun) demonstrated that Islam developed not only as a religious teaching but also as a political force with widespread influence on social life. One key figure in this process was Umar ibn Khattab, known as the second caliph after Abu Bakr as-Siddiq. Umar ibn Khattab's leadership was a crucial period in Islamic history, marked by the expansion of Islamic territory, the strengthening of the government system, and the creation of social stability within society. This study aims to examine the role of Umar ibn Khattab's leadership in strengthening Islam as a political force and its impact on social development within Islamic civilization. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research, examining various literature sources related to the history of Umar ibn Khattab's reign. Data were analyzed descriptively to understand the political and social policies implemented during that period. The results show that Umar ibn Khattab's leadership succeeded in significantly expanding Islamic territory, establishing a more organized government administration system, and implementing social policies that created stability and justice in society. This demonstrates that the reign of Umar ibn Khattab played a crucial role in strengthening Islam's position as a political and social force in the history of world civilization.
