Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran strategis Maroko dalam sejarah dunia Arab dan Islam, khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan Islam, keberagamaan masyarakat, serta kebijakan keagamaan negara. Melalui metode studi pustaka, data dikumpulkan dari berbagai sumber literatur ilmiah, termasuk buku, jurnal, dan laporan akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Maroko telah memainkan peran penting dalam penyebaran dan pengembangan Islam, baik melalui pendirian lembaga pendidikan klasik seperti Universitas al-Qarawiyyin maupun melalui tradisi sufistik yang moderat dan inklusif. Karakteristik keberagamaan masyarakat yang berbasis pada mazhab Maliki dan tasawuf menjadikan Islam di Maroko bersifat toleran, damai, dan berakar pada nilai-nilai lokal. Selain itu, reformasi pendidikan Islam yang dilakukan pemerintah melalui lembaga seperti Institut Mohammed VI mencerminkan komitmen kuat terhadap penyebaran Islam wasathiyah di tingkat nasional dan internasional. Dengan demikian, Maroko dapat dianggap sebagai model negara Muslim yang berhasil memadukan tradisi keislaman klasik dengan tantangan zaman modern.
