Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concepts of alms and infaq in the Al-Qur'an and hadith as a form of psychological therapy from a maqāṣid perspective. The research method used is library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through documentation and text studies, while data analysis employed content analysis with a thematic approach and the maqāṣid framework. The study's results indicate that alms and infaq can be understood not only as social worship but also as part of the process of spiritual development in Islam. The practice of giving alms and infaq is positioned as a means of establishing inner peace, managing emotions, building the meaning of life, and strengthening individual spirituality. In the framework of maqāṣid al-syarī'ah, alms and infaq are related to efforts to safeguard the soul (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and reason (ḥifẓ al-'aql), so they are relevant to be placed as preventive and curative approaches in mental health based on Islamic values. This research provides a conceptual contribution to the development of Islamic psychology studies and opens up space for the integration of religious values in psychological therapy models.
